(ICDA)
Sistema de clasificación adaptado por el U.S. Public Health Service, que deriva del sistema básico desarrollado por la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Se utiliza para clasificar por categorías y orden alfabético los registros hospitalarios. Cada enfermedad se registra como perteneciente a una sección principal, como son las de enfermedades infecciosas o enfermedades neoplásicas, y después se codifica más detalladamente en las principales categorías y subdivisiones de ese tipo de enfermedad. El sistema se actualiza cada 10 años.
